BRODETSKY, SELIG

(1888-1954)

   British mathema-tician and Zionist leader, of Ukrainian origin. He was professor of mathematics at the University of Leeds from 1920 to 1949 and served as president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews from 1939 to 1949. In that year he became president of the Hebrew University, but returned to England in 1952.
