(1885-1962)
   Danish physicist. Born in Copenhagen, he was the son of a non-Jewish father. He became professor of chemical physics at the University of Copenhagen, and in 1920 head of the Institute of Theoretical Physics. In 1922 he was awarded the Nobel Prize.
