Caro, Heinrich: translation

(1834-1910)
   German chemist. Born in Posen, Prussia, he moved to Berlin and trained as a dyer in Gewerbeinstitut. From 1852-5 he was a lecturer at the University of Berlin. In 1859 he went to England to work as an analytical chemist for Roberts, Dale and Co. in Manchester, where he became a partner. He subsequently returned to Germany and served as a director of Badische Analin und Soda-Fabrik from 1869-89, and became a leading spokesman for the chemical industry.
