   Czech philos-opher. He was born in Prague. He was active in the Czech Zionist movement and in 1920 he settled in Palestine. He directed the National and University Library in Jerusalem and from 1928 he taught philosophy at the Hebrew University, where he was rector from 1936 to 1938. His writings include Faith and Reason: An Introduction to Modern Jewish Thought and Philosophy of Solomon Maimon.
