(1886-1950)
Austrian poet and author. He was born in Vienna. He lived in Berlin, travelled widely in Europe, and eventually settled in New York in 1941. His poetry was pessi-mistic in character and occasionally bears witness to a yearning for the oriental world; he published several volumes of Chinese poetry in his own free adaptations, as well as narrative works and essays.
