ALFIO
Alfio m
Italian: a typically Sicilian name, borne in honour of a saint martyred under the Emperor Decius in 251, together with his brothers Philadelphus and Cyrinus. The name may represent Greek Alphios, from alphos wheat, or it may be from the Roman family name Alfius; this is from an Italic dialectal form, alfus, of Latin albus white, and is in fact distantly connected with the Greek word.
