BARNES, DJUNA
(1892-1982)
Born in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, Djuna Chappell Barnes became best known as a novelist. Early in her career, however, she was an actress and playwright. The Provincetown Players produced three of her one-acts in 1919: Three from the Earth, Kurzy of the Sea, and An Irish Triangle. Another one-act, She Tells Her Daughter, was published in Smart Set (November 1923). Barnes was an original member of the Theatre Guild.
