DODEKASCHOENUS

найдено в "Ancient Egypt"

The border area between Aswan and the kingdom of Meroe from Philae to Maharraqa. This stretch of the Nile river was under the control of Egypt during most of the Ptolemaic Period, except from around about 207–160s BC, when it was occupied by Meroe. Under Ptolemy VI, Egyptian control briefly extended to the Second Cataract. Dodekaschoenus was awarded to Roman Egypt under the peace treaty negotiated by Publius Petronius in 21 BC. The income tax here supported the priesthood at Philae. The area was abandoned by Rome during the reign of Diocletian.
