(1895-1982)
   American writer. Born in New York of German-Jewish parents, she studied at Barnard College. She collaborated with her husband Avraham Yarmolinsky on the trans-lation of Blok's The Twelve and Modern Russian Poetry. Her works include a philosophical poem, Epistle to Prometheus, and a novel about Socrates, Mask of Silenus. From 1933-5 she taught at the New School for Social Research, then at Queens College, and later at Columbia. From 1960-6 she was Honorary Consultant to the Library of Congress.
