CHARMAINE
Charmaine f
English: possibly a variant of CHARMIAN (SEE Charmian), influenced by names such as GERMAINE (SEE Germaine), but more probably an invented name based on the vocabulary word charm + -aine as in LORRAINE (SEE Lorraine). It is not found before 1920, but enjoyed some popularity in the 1960s due to The Bachelors' hit song of this name.
