   Harry Carey Jr. grew up in a movie family, his father, Harry Carey, having played in Westerns since the silent era. The title of Carey Jr.’s autobiography sums up a long career: Company of Heroes:My Life as an Actor in the John Ford Stock Company. Few character actors have been seen in as many Westerns from 1948 to the present as Carey Jr. His first significant film was Red River (1948), followed by most of the John Ford Westerns of the time, such as She Wore A Yellow Ribbon (1949), The Searchers (1956), and Cheyenne Autumn (1964). Still active, Carey Jr.’s most recent Western is Comanche Stallion (2006).
