   Singer/actor of Lebanese descent who had a long and varied career. Made his film debut in 1938 and received his first starring role in 1940; for the next few years alternated roles in "rural" and "urban" films, but at the end of the decade suddenly became popular as a slick gangster villain in films like Hipócrita ('49) and Vagabunda ('50). Nominated for the Best Male Co-Star Ariel for Me he de comer esa tuna ('44), and won the Best Starring Actor prize for Cantaclaro ('45). In later years made only sporadic film appearances but was active on TV. At one time married to Esther Fernández.
