   Director, intendant. Everding's work is closely associated with Munich, where he attended university and studied under Fritz Kortner at the Kammerspiele. In 1955 he directed his first production there, and for the next eight years directed numerous Kammerspiele productions. In 1963 Everding was named the Kammerspiele's intendant, a post he retained for 10 years before briefly leaving Munich to become intendant of the Hamburg State Opera. In 1977 Everding returned to Munich as intendant of the Bavarian State Opera, and in 1982 he assumed responsibility for all of Munich's subsidized theaters.
