Abbey Theatre
['æbi 'θɪətə, englisch], 1904 in Dublin von Lady Augusta Gregory, J. M. Synge und W. B. Yeats gegründetes irisches Nationaltheater (1951 durch Feuer zerstört, Neueröffnung 1966); es sollte die kulturelle Identität des irischen Volkes deutlich machen. Gespielt wurden (anfangs oft heftig umstritten) besonders Werke von Yeats, Synge, W. Boyle, später S. O'Casey.
