[sinema'tɛk frã'sɛːz], 1936 in Paris von Henri Langlois (* 1914, ✝ 1977; auch künstlerischer Leiter) und Georges Franju (* 1912, ✝ 1987) gegründetes Filmarchiv und Filmmuseum (seit 1972); die Cinémathèque Française wird durch das Centre National du Cinéma finanziert. Neben der Sammlung und Bewahrung des audiovisuellen Erbes sowie Vorführung der gesammelten Filme nimmt sie konservatorische Aufgaben wahr; angeschlossen sind eine Fotothek und eine Bibliothek.
