COILED BODY
coiled body: translation
An ubiquitous nuclear organelle containing the mRNA splicing machinery (U1, U2, U4, U5, U6 and U7 snRNAs), the U3 and U8 snRNPs that are involved in pre-rRNA processing, together with nucleolar proteins such as fibrillarin and coilin. Ultrastructurally they appear to consist of a tangle of coiled threads and are spherical, between 0.5-1 m m in diameter.
