BAKENRENEF

(reigned c. 725–719 BC)

   The Greek form of his name is Bocchoris. Throne name Wahkare. Ruler of Dynasty 24. He succeeded his father, Tefnakhte, as prince of Saisand claimant to the throne of Egypt. The extent of his rule is unclear, but he was opposed and finally defeated by Shabaqo of Dynasty 25. Later sources indicate that Bakenrenef was executed by the new ruler.
