DEP1
(= CD148; HPTPe;)
Density-enhanced phosphatase-1 (220-250 kD). Transmembrane protein with eight extracellular FnIII domains and a single cytoplasmic tyrosine phosphatase domain. Dep-1 is involved in signal transduction in lymphocytes and is also found in smooth muscle cells and tumour cells. When clustered Dep-1 inhibits Fc g RII-induced superoxide production. In many tumour cells Dep-1 is associated with a 64 kD serine/threonine kinase that may regulate its activity. Has been speculated to play a role in density-dependent inhibition of growth.
