EUSEBIUS
Eusebius: translation
Historian c.AD 320. Eusebius was one of the sources in whose writings *Manetho's Aegyptiaca was preserved (the others were *Josephus, *Africanus and *Syncellus). However, these present *Manetho in an abridged and sometimes contradictory form, and Eusebius' facts sometimes disagree with those of *Africanus.
Eusebius was a Christian chronographer and his writings in particular represent Egypt to later generations as a land where superstition and religious fanaticism prevailed; to some extent at least, he held a biased and ill-informed view of this ancient civilisation.
