EXPLOITATION PATTERN
the distribution of fishing mortality over the age or length composition of the fish population, determined by the type of fishing gear, area and seasonal distribution of fishing, and the growth and migration of the fish. The pattern can be changed by modifications to fishing gear, e.g. increasing mesh or hook size, by changing the ratio of harvest by gears exploiting the fish (gill net, trawl, hook and line, etc.), a modification of the mix of gears in a multi-gear fishery, or by a change in fishing practice such as shift in area or time period fished (possibly as a result of a regulation such as a closed area or season).The pattern is expressed as a series of values ranging from 0.0 to 1.0
