   Born in Franklin, Pennsylvania, Dodd graduated from Yale University and New York Law School. He gave up legal practice after five years in order to write novels and plays. He was best known for his Pulitzer PRizE-nominated play The Changelings (1923). Shortly before his death, he was appointed to succeed George Pierce Baker as head of the Yale Drama School.
