Ershiyi Shiji is a bimonthly interdisciplinary scholarly journal first founded in October of 1990 by a group of scholars, including Jin Guantao, of the Chinese Culture Research Institute of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It orchestrates multiple voices in the global community of concerned scholars in the quest for the long-term development of Chinese culture.

Published in classic Chinese, this journal claims to be a forum to build bridges and promote communication across disciplines, schools of thought and ideological and political spectra among Chinese scholars and readers from all the Chinese communities in the world. Its editorial board membership includes leading scholars of Chinese culture such as Harvard Confucianist Tu Weiming, Li Zehou, a leading scholar of aesthetics from mainland China, and Ambrose King, a distinguished Hong Kong-based sociologist. Even Nobel Prize-winning scientists such as Li Yuanzhe, chemist and President of Academia Sinica in Taiwan, and Chenling Yang, a physicist, are on the board. Its current editor is Liu Qingfeng.

A brief glimpse of the table of content of its latest issue reveals a broad list of topics which include international relations, modern Chinese history and its relationship with the world history, politics and law, scientific and technological culture, economics, society and media, and finally book reviews, all related to Chinese culture. Contributors are encouraged to make original, thoughtful and readable submissions in all languages. The editor arranges a translation into classic Chinese if the accepted submission is in any other language rather than classic Chinese. Royalties are paid for any accepted submission, plus an issue of the journal.
