CARREFOUR DE L'EUROPE/KRUISPUNT VAN EUROPE

   The Carrefour de l'Europe designates the name of the main square at the entrance to the Gare Centrale and the triangle flanked by rue de la Madeleine, rue de la Montagne, and boulevard de l'Impératrice. The area features old gabled houses adjoining modern apartment complexes and offices and exemplifies the haphazard nature of urban development in the mid-20th century.
