   American producer of animated cartoons. Born in Australia, he went to the US at the age of five and studied at various schools in New York. He initially worked as a cartoonist for the Brooklyn Daily Eagle and as art editor of Popular Science Monthly. In 1919 he founded the Fleischer Studios. Later the studio became a major enterprise.
