DUVEEN, JOSEPH

(1869-1939)

   Art dealer. Born in Hull, he began investing in art. Later he settled in the US where he educated a small group of collectors and encouraged the public to visit museums. He established galleries in New York, Paris and London. He was knighted and later made a peer.
