   American novelist, playwright and essayist. She was born in Detroit, and taught at Wayne State University and Sarah Lawrence College. Her novels include Her Mothers, Unafraid Women and A Weave of Women. She was also the co-author with Naomi Nimrod of A Woman's Passover Haggadah.
