DARWIN MACHINE

A model for the brain that treats it as a flexible instrument in which the function of groups of neurons is selected by the pressure on the organism to adapt to the surrounding world. Such functions will include recognizing repeating patterns in the external environment and the body of the agent, and initiating appropriate routines in response.
