Eugene Victor, amerikanischer Politiker und Gewerkschaftsführer, * Terre Haute (Indiana) 5. 11. 1855, ✝ Elmhurst (Illinois) 20. 10. 1926; wurde als Befürworter von Industriegewerkschaften 1893 Präsident der American Railway Union und gründete 1897 die Social Democratic Party, die sich 1901 mit anderen gemäßigten Sozialisten zur Socialist Party zusammenschloss; zwischen 1900 und 1920 fünfmal Präsidentschaftskandidat. Als Gegner der amerikanischen Kriegspolitik wurde Debs 1918 zu einer Gefängnisstrafe verurteilt; 1921 begnadigt.
