FAIR AND WARMER

   This Avery Hopwood farce, which opened on 6 November 1915 at the Eltinge Theatre, produced by Arch Selwyn, won the approval of critics for its bright cast and ran for 377 performances. The innocuous plot is based upon an innocent indiscretion: two married friends, played by John Cumberland and Madge Kennedy, get drunk and are "caught" by their spouses, played by Ralph Morgan and Janet Beecher, Fair and Warmer offered a mixture of mild titillation with wholesome humor to suit Broadway audiences and on tour. June Mathis adapted it for the 1919 motion picture.
