    (Greek abyssos).
    Abyss is primarily and classically an adjective, meaning deep, very deep (Wisd., x, 19; Job, xxxviii, 16).Elsewhere in the Bible, and once in Diog. Laert., it is a substantive. Some thirty times in the Septuagint it is the equivalent of the Hebrew tehom, Assyrian tihamtu, and once each of the Hebrew meculah, "sea-deep", culah, "deep flood", and rachabh, "spacious place". Hence the meanings:
    (1) primeval waters;
    (2) the waters beneath the earth;
    (3) the upper seas and rivers;
    (4) the abode of the dead, limbo;
    (5) the abode of the evil spirits, hell.
    The last two meanings are the only ones found in the New Testament.

"Abyss" по-английски "Бездна" или "Пропасть", но группе по духу и образному выражению ближе все же "Бездна". Музыканты объединились нынешним составом в сентябре 1999 года. К этому немаловажному событию в жизни подтолкнула предстоящая "KISS Convention". С этого момента музыканты начали работать над своей первой программой кавер-версий. В состав группы вошли: Наталья (ритм-гитара, лидер, музыкальный руководитель, главный надсмотрщик и мозговой центр группы), Мария (бас-гитара, яростный критик и рьяный защитник, а также официальный представитель группы), Ирина (ударные, "третейский судья" и "доброе сердце" группы, помогающий собрать воедино общие музыкальные пристрастия), Настя (соло-гитара, "темная лошадка", тихая и незаметная, но не оставляющая в самые тяжелые минуты).
Основной музыкальный стиль — хард-рок с элементами металла и легкого балладного налета (язык в песнях использован как русский, так и английский), хотя делается упор на глэм-рок. Что касается отличительных черт, то глэм-рок сам по себе очень неординарен, и подразумевает под собой яркую, образную и несколько театральную подачу музыки. Именно поэтому каждому участнику на сцене соответствует свой индивидуальный образ, складывающийся из сценического костюма и оформления лица, а также характера поведения на сцене и общей, целостной подачи своего персонажа.
