COHEN, SHALOM BEN JACOB (HACOHEN, SHALOM)
(1772-1845)
German Hebrew poet of Polish origin. He joined the circle of maskilim in Berlin. In 1809 he revived the journal Ha-measseph, then in 1821, after settling in Vienna, he founded the annual Bikkure ha-Ittim. He later lived in Hamburg. He wrote poems on biblical themes and Jewish textbooks.
