BARNETT, LIONEL DAVID

(1871-1960)

   English orien-talist. Born in Liverpool, he was Keeper of the Department of Oriental Printed Books and Manuscripts at the British Museum from 1908 to 1936. His writings include Antiquities of India, Hindu Gods and Heroes, and the English translation of A History of Greek Drama and Brahma-Knowledge. He edited Bevis Marks Synagogue records of the contributions made to history by members of the congregation.
