BERGMAN, GEORGE

(1900-79)

   Australian historian and biographer. He was born in Germany, where he worked as a lawyer. In 1933 he went to France and served in the Foreign Legion in World War II. After moving to Australia he entered public service and wrote about Australian Jewish history. He was co-author of Australian Genesis: Jewish Convicts and Settlers.
