From Greek mythology. Khlōris was a minor goddess of vegetation; her name derives from Greekkhlōros green. It was used by the Roman poet Horace for one of his loves (cf. LALAGE (SEE Lalage)), and was taken up by Augustan poets of the 17th and 18th centuries.
