   American psycho-analyst. He was born in Frankfurt am Main and emigrated to the US in 1933. He taught at Harvard, Yale and the University of California. In 1960 he was appointed professor of human development and psychiatry at Harvard. His publications include Childhood and Society, in which he discusses anti-Semitism and the role of Jews in society.
