EPHRAIM BEN ISAAC OF REGENSBURG

   German tosaphist and liturgical poet. As a youth he lived in France, where he was among the first pupils of Jacob ben Meir Tam. He wrote piyyutim which reflect the hardships suffered by the Jews of Germany in the Regensburg massacre of 1137 and during the Second Crusade (1146-7).
