   American psychologist and educator. He was born in Vienna. In 1938 he was transported to the Dachau concentration camp and then to Buchenwald. In 1939 he was released and settled in the US. He was principal of the University of Chicago's Orthogenic School for children with severe psychological problems and professor of educational psychology at the university. His psychological theories were based on his experiences in the concentration camps. His The Children of the Dream is an analysis of the rearing of kibbutz children.
