(1892-1986)
   French aircraft designer. Born in Paris, he studied electricity and worked in a car factory. He later studied in an aeronautical school. During World War I he designed propellers. In the 1930s he continued to design planes. During the war he was arrested as a Jew and deported to Buchenwald. Later he was the head of an aircraft factory. In 1951 he entered politics.
