Agranat, Shimon: translation

(1906-1992)
   Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he migrated to Palestine in 1930, where he settled in Haifa. He was appointed a justice of Israel's Supreme Court in 1950 and served on the five-member panel that adjudicated the trial of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann in 1962. He became chief justice of the Supreme Court in 1965 and served as head of the Agranat Commission of Inquiry, established by the government in 1973.
