The stock exchange headquartered in Sydney, Australia. The Australian Stock Exchange in its current form was created through a merger of the Australian Stock Exchange and Sydney Futures Exchange. The ASX acts as a market operator, clearing house and payments facilitator, and also provides educational materials to retail investors.
The original ASX was formed in 1987 after six independent stock exchanges that operated throughout Australia merged. The ASX offers equities, futures, options, warrants, ETFs and REITs, among other securities.
