   American communal leader. He was born in Philadelphia, and moved to Baltimore and then to Richmond, Virginia, where he was active in Jewish affairs. He fought against legislation which discriminated against Jews. Later he moved to Cincinnati, where he served as secretary to the board of governors of the Hebrew Union College.
