   American composer, conductor and organist. Born in Leipzig, he emigrated to the US in 1946. He held positions at Temple Emanuel in New York and the Washington Hebrew Congregation. He was also professor of comparative history of sacred music at the Catholic University of America. His compositions include The Burning Bush (1957), AvodatShabbat (1958) and Job (1971).
