DISCODERMOLIDE

Anti-tumour drug (a poly-hydroxylated alkatetraene lactone) that, like taxol, promotes formation of stable bundles of microtubules and competes with taxol for binding to polymerized tubulin. Isolated from the marine sponge, Discodermia dissoluta.
