Blodwedd f
Welsh: name borne by a character in the Mabinogi. She was conjured up out of flowers as a bride for Lleu Llaw Gyffes, and was originally called Blodeuedd, a derivative of blawd flowers. After she had treacherously had her husband killed she was transformed into an owl, and her name was changed to Blodeuwedd ‘flower face’, an allusion to the markings round the eyes of the owl.
