CAPETILLO, MANUEL

(1926 - )

   famous Mexican bullfighter, born in Jalisco, one of the "Three Musketeers," a trio of young toreros who made their debuts in 1948. Beginning in 1955 with Las zapatillas verdes, Capetillo also worked as a film actor and occasional singer as well. After his retirement from the bullring, Capetillo concentrated on acting, and continued to take occasional movie roles into the 1990s. His sons Manuel Jr. and Guillermo are also bullfighters/actors; another son, Eduardo, is a popular TV actor and is married to actress Bibi Gaytán.
