Crane: übersetzung

Crane

[kreɪn],

 1) Harold Hart, amerikanischer Lyriker, * Garrettsville (Ohio) 21. 7. 1899, ✝ (Selbstmord) im Golf von Mexiko 27. 4. 1932. Von E. A. Poe, A. Rimbaud, T. S. Eliot und W. Stevens beeinflusst, zeigt Crane in seiner frühen Dichtung (v. a.

Ausgaben: The collected poems, herausgegeben von W. Frank (Neuausgabe 1946); The complete poems, herausgegeben von B. Weber (1979).

A girl of the streets« (1892; deutsch »Maggie, das Straßenkind«) entwirft ein düsteres Bild der Elendsviertel von New York.

Weitere Werke: Romane: George's mother (1896); The third violet (1897); Active service (1899); The O'Ruddy (herausgegeben 1903).

Erzählungen: The little regiment (1896); The monster (1899; deutsch Das Monstrum); Whilomville stories (1900); Wounds in the rain (1900); Last words (herausgegeben 1902).
