DDT [Abk. für Dichlordiphenyltrichlorethan]: Common Name für 1,1,1-Trichlor-2,2-bis(4-chlorphenyl)ethan, ein als Kontakt- u. Fraßgift breit wirkendes Insektizid, das bes. zur Malariabekämpfung geeignet, aber biol. schwer abbaubar ist.

DDT^®

[Abkürzung für Dichlordiphenyltrichloräthan], ein 1939 von P.Müller als Insektizid erkanntes wirksames Kontakt- und Fraßgift für verschiedenartige Insekten bei relativ geringer Giftigkeit für den Menschen (leichte Vergiftungssymptome bei 0,7 g, tödliche Dosis bei etwa 20 g). Große Erfolge konnten bei der Bekämpfung krankheitsübertragender Insekten erzielt werden. So konnte die Zahl der Malariafälle auf Ceylon von 2,8 Mio. (über 12 000 Tote) im Jahr 1946 auf 17 (1963) reduziert werden. Als Pflanzenschutzmittel wird DDT v. a. im Baumwollanbau eingesetzt. Einige Insekten (z. B. Stubenfliegen) haben gegenüber DDT eine Resistenz entwickelt. DDT wird in der Natur nur langsam abgebaut. Es kann sich über die Nahrungskette in tierisches Fettgewebe anreichern und zu Schäden führen. In Deutschland und vielen anderen Staaten ist die Verwendung von DDT deshalb verboten.

Один из первых высокотоксичных инсектицидов, сейчас его применение резко сокращено ввиду токсичности для человека (ЛД100 = 70 мг/кг), также у многих насекомых образовались ДДТ-устойчивые расы; впервые ДДТ синтезирован в 1874, а его инсектицидные свойства открыты в 1939; в результате токсического действия ДДТ на человека развивается тканевая гипоксия и происходит нарушение энергетического обмена.
