Cheap Jack: translation
One who sells cheap and second-rate goods. Cheap jack is a slang term for a person who may also be referred to as a "peddler", "canvasser", "monger" or "solicitor". These terms have been in use in England since the 16th century as a derogatory description of traveling salespeople.
A cheap jack is usually a traveling vendor of shoddy goods. Often a cheap jack travels from city to city trying to sell his or her low-grade goods at organized events such as fairs or other large, outdoor gatherings.
