EHRENBURG, LLYA GRIGORYEVICH

   Russian author and journalist. He was born in Kiev. He was exiled from 1908 to 1917 for revolutionary activ-ities. On his return to Russia in 1917 he opposed the Bolsheviks and again left the country in 1921. He returned once more in 1941 and became a spokesman for Stalin. He wrote against Nazi anti-Semitism and Zionism. He was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1942 for his novel The Fall of Paris and in
   1948 for The Storm. His autobiography appeared in six volumes.
