E2F

Family of transcription factors originally identified through their role in transcriptional activation of the adenovirus E2 promoter, subsequently found to bind to promoters for various genes involved in the G1 and S phases of the cell cycle. E2F forms heterodimers with DP-1 to produce an active transcriptional complex. E2F family members are regulated by interaction with retinoblastoma (Rb) proteins.
